Our History

1927

Foundation

The Indian Olympic Association was established to represent India in the International Olympic Committee and promote Olympic sports.

1928

First Olympic Gold

India's hockey team won the first Olympic gold medal at Amsterdam Olympics, beginning a golden era in Indian sports.

1947

Independent Participation

Post-independence, IOA began representing India as a sovereign nation in Olympic competitions.

1985

Modern National Games

Launched the first National Games on Olympic lines in New Delhi, establishing the modern format.
